Spring is here! Not that it matters much here in LA where it’s usually warm year round 😉 Springtime calls for some lipstick shopping! I’ve been meaning to try Burberry’s new beauty line for some time now. I saw that their Burberry Kisses came in a nice range of nudes and pinks, so I ordered a few to try. I tried five total – one for every day of the work week.
Overall, I found the colors of Burberry Kisses to be quite sheer at first, which makes sense since these are positioned as “buildable” colors. It took a few swipes across the lip for the color to show, which makes Burberry Kisses very different from highly pigmented lipsticks such as NARS Audacious collection. Burberry Kisses lipsticks are more hydrating and natural looking and it actually pops quite well against fairer skin tones.
My favorite out of the five I tried was Tulip Pink No. 09 – a brighter pink that is perfect for spring and contrasts especially well with the classic Burberry trench.
Coral Pink No. 65 was a close second, a nice pop of color that is a tad more orange that will go well with spring outfits that incorporate denim.
Devon Sunset No. 61 is a great choice for an easy weekend look. It’s somewhere in between pink and coral and is just the right amount of color when going out to brunch or running last minute errands on Sundays.
As you can see below, Nude Pink No. 05 and Blossom Pink No. 29 are great for people who prefer a natural look with a hint of color. The Nude Pink was a great “my lips but better” color that gave just enough pop of color.
Worth the splurge?
These lipsticks are very comfortable to wear and the design of the lipstick has the iconic check motif, which makes it stand out. It’s definitely something I would reach for when I need an easy color to wear at work – it has just enough color to come across professional and polished. Before making the purchase, I recommend trying the swatches in store first to make sure they show up on your lips, because if you are used to saturated colors you might need a more pigmented option.
